Being a RED p4 – MANCHESTER IS RED

I am so excited to write this blog post! :))))))

I have to admit, I didn’t watch this game live. In my defense, I have 2 reasons: 1. I was at the Bernabéu watching Real Madrid vs. Levante, 2. I promised myself I wasn’t going to watch either way, because I had a feeling that if I did, we would lose. And guess what? WE WON.

My day started off as normal, I knew it was happening but I kept myself busy. We filmed for the final project (I’ll have a blog post for this) and arrived at the Bernabéu press area to watch the game vs. Levante. Waiting around, I got the notification for our starting XI. Not going to lie, I didn’t have the best hopes. My exact thoughts: “Whatever, I’m not watching anyway so what I don’t know can’t hurt me.”

I go up the the press area, I remember seeing it’s the 10th minute and we haven’t conceded. Good. At this point all my hopes are nonexistent. There is some aura around Michael Carrick but I’m over anything and everything Man United.

Real Madrid vs. Levante kicks off, I’m working on my article (will be on another blog post), I’m live tweeting as well. No Flashscore notifications. Good. At halftime I go over to my friends and sit with them for a bit. We talk about work, university, and where we’re going to eat after. Then I recieve it. The notification. 1-0. Manchester United is leading 1-0 in the derby at Old Trafford. It’s Mbuemo. Of course it is. I’m ecstatic, actually, more than ecstatic I can’t even find the word for it right now.

This is the first time I actually open Flashscore. We’ve had TWO goals ruled as offside in the first half and I realize: Manchester City are STRUGGLING. It would have been 3-0 by now. Oh my God.

Still, I don’t get my hopes up because, well, you know, it’s not over until it’s over.

Then, it happens again. That same notification. 2-0. Dorgu. I realize we actually have them this time. The only stat they have on us is possession. And what difference does possession do if you don’t do anything with it? So, now I’m confident, there’s little left until the clock hits 90. It feels like a reward after those 3 embarrassing previous fixtures I was so uninspired to write about.

Mason Mount makes it 3-0. Ruled offside but, who cares at this point? We’ve put 5 balls back in the “world’s best goalkeeper’s” net, they’re lucky it’s only 2-0.

What a statement win, and what a debut afternoon for Carrick. With every expression he let out after the goals you could see the man’s passion for Man United, and that’s the kind of person we need. We can’t get ahead of ourselves, but we can and should be proud.

Moral of the story: always trust your gut, Pep makes me smile when he looks so defeated, and MANCHESTER IS RED! ❤️
