Three Points at the Emirates

If you think the derby win felt like a spark, the 3–2 win over the table toppers was confirmation.

We saw character, personality, and fight from the lads.

And honestly, after the kind of season United have had so far, that was impressive.

Arsenal, as hosts, looked more stable and sharp early on. After all, they had clinched onto the top of the league and weren’t planning on letting go. And like many other times, the Reds slept on the pitch. Didn’t take long for Arsenal to punish it.

Their opening goal came from exactly the kind of situation United have struggled with this season, and countless previous ones. Unnecessary space appearing between the midfield and the defence, late tackles, and quick counterattacks. A Lisandro Martinez hiccup and that was it. We were 1-0 down at the Emirates.

Thankfully, United responded quickly, pushing higher up the pitch, waiting for Arsenal’s backline to make an error. And so they did.

Martin Zubimendi allowed Bryan Mbuemo to find the back of the net with the equalizer. For some time before the halftime whistle, United looked much more dangerous than the hosts, it felt nice to watch.

Just 5 minutes after the beginning of the second half, Patrick Dorgu put us forward for the first time, United were FLYING. But this team still makes things difficult for itself. They slowed down, felt too comfortable.

Late into the second half, Arsenal’s equalizer came from a Saka corner, despite Sesko’s best efforts at a clearance.

And that’s what made the winner feel so important. Our supersub. The man that scored in the derby vs. Manchester City. The Red in top form: Mattheus Cunha.

Another sweet 3 points secured under Michael Carrick, a breath of fresh air after the inexplicable first 3 months of the season.
